She at the Belgrade Security Forum said that with US Vice President Mike Pence in Podgorica, she has talked to him saying: “we understand that countries in the region want to join NATO, as we expect these countries and NATO to understand our intention to stay neutral”, reports “b92”, the Periscope broadcast.
However, she added, “we have excellent co-operation with NATO through IPAP and PfP programmes, where we have many joint activities”.
As she said, “we need to talk about facts, and this is that Serbia shows it's really neutral through activities, where, for example, in 2016, it participated in 16 multinational exercises, 9 of them bilaterally with the US, two with Russia, and two with countries in the country of”.
This year, she added, there have been 13 military activities with NATO or its members, seven with the US, two with Russia.
“These numbers show that we are committed to all sides and that we are not only close to Russia and that this is just a matter of perception rather than fact”, Brnabiq said in a panel dedicated to NATO-Serbia contribution to the Western Balkans, where her co-ordinator was Deputy Secretary General NATO's Rose Gottemeller.
Serbia, the prime minister added, heads the region and is seventh in Europe in terms of participation in UN and EU peacekeeping missions, and 3,0444 members of our army have participated in them, of which she said was proud. /Periscopi/
