Although he expected more checks in the Communist area, he was surprised to see that the South Koreans were stricter.
More than 100,000 tourists visit the area each year.
They are ordered by the South Korean authorities not to dress excessively, as their photos are used for propaganda in the Communist country, where they are told that people are how degenerate foreigners are.
On both sides of the border, tourists hear two different versions of history.
