A baby “dboi” his father's van a few feet down, ending up in a ditch.

The boy was in the van when his parents were unloading the goods from behind, and the vehicle moved into the water.

His father Z Zhang had pulled the van brakes but left the car on with the keys.

The curious boy started the engine, just like he saw his father many times before.

Security cameras show the child's parents running to the front of the vehicle, but it was too late.

Local authorities, who were called to help, said the van was transported about 200m to the current before villagers were thrown into the canal to free the boy, who was fortunately not injured.

The van later returned to land with the help of a crane.
