6 of 22 murders this year have not been detected

Kosovo police say that 22 murders, 4 less than in 2016, have been registered since the beginning of the year.

The “certain cases of murder are well-known, while some of the cases are in the process of investigation, and police in co-operation with the Prosecution address them with great seriousness”, said in a response by the Kosovo Police to KALLXO.com.

According to police, of the 22 cases of murders that occurred this year, 16 have been revealed.

All cases of murder are being handled based on applicable laws in Kosovo and on consultation with the competent Prosecution, all necessary measures for completion and prosecution of cases in the judiciary are said to be taken in the police response.

“We have consistently taken concrete actions for preventing either through police operations for the seizure of illegal weapons or even through different campaigns for awareness of all illegal activities that could directly or indirectly affect the risk of general security or lead to the carrying out of such” acts, the police response is said to be further.

According to the KP, cases of murder in general are very disturbing and caused by various motives, while decisions related to such cases and determining penalties are the competence of justice organs.
