(19 hours ago)Turkish citizen Ibrahim Eser is honoured with Venezuela's Hero Medal for his contribution to the rescue of 38 people trapped in ruins following powerful earthquakes that hit the country.
The medal was handed over by Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, during a ceremony held at the Jorge Luis Garcia Carneiro Stadium in La Guaira.
Members of security and emergency teams who participated in post- disaster rescue operations were also praised in the event.
From the first hours after the earthquakes, Eser contributed to search for rescue operations, while also providing images and information on the situation on the ground, helping to international reflection of the proportions of tragedy.
During the ceremony, Rodriguez praised the work of rescue teams, stressing their dedication and sacrifice in efforts to save lives.
She said they showed solidarity and resistance in one of the most difficult moments for the country. /Periscope/
