Trump speaks after the World Cup final: I have no tension with the Spanish prime minister

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he has no tension with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, despite recently ordering a complete ban on trade with Spain,
I have no tension with him. I have no tension with anyone”, Trump told reporters after Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final FIFA 2026.
The American president said he praised Spanish officials for their big “team”, describing the final match as a “big event”. He dismissed suggestions that he was saddened by the loss of Argentina, claiming that “Spain played better”, although “was a very close match”, reports AA, the Periscope broadcast.
Compliance remarks mark an important change in rhetoric. Early this month, Trump labeled Spain a missing “causion” and a terrible <x2parter in NATO” for refusing to allow American forces to enter the Spanish bases during the conflict with Iran and Madrid's refusal to commit to a 5 per cent objective of defence spending.
I don't want to do anything with Spain. Stop any trade with Spain, please, including visits”, Trump said at a media conference at the NATO Summit in Ankara in Turkey. /Periscope
