Skenderaj launches hail damage investigation, about 60 hectares of wheat damaged only in Vajnik

According to the announcement, the director of the Directorate for Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development, Sabit Feriz, along with officials of the Directorate, has made field visits to see the situation closely in the affected areas.

“During the day, Directorate for Agriculture, Forest and Rural Development Director Sabit Ferizi, along with directorate officials, has been making field visits to see closely the damage caused by the adverse weather and hail that hit the municipality the previous day”, the announcement said.

Visits have been held in the villages of Vajnik, Buroja, Licoc and Izbica, where, according to the Directorate, significant damage has been recorded in the cultures of cereal, trees and vegetables.

According to preliminary assessments, in the village of Vajnik alone some 60 hectares planted with wheat” are damaged, it is further said.

The Directorate notes that farmers of affected areas have begun to hand in demand for damage assessment.

The Municipal Commission for the assessment of damages from Natural Disasters is expected to appear soon on the ground for the execution and assessment of damage caused by the hail”, the report said.

According to the preliminary procedures, after completing the assessment, the report will proceed to the Municipal Assembly for review and approval, while then the Central Government Commission will be sent to review the possibilities for compensation of affected farmers.
