Oil expands following new American attacks on Iran

The crude Brant oil, the international reference price, rose 3% to about $90.78 per barrel, and raw American oil rose by almost 3% to $84.85 per barrel.

Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which flows 20% of the global oil supply, has been declining following the escalation of tensions last week.

On Wednesday, the US re-established the Iranian ports' naval blockade.

Some ships have used alternative routes, including along Oman's coastline, which have not been approved by Tehran.

Gas prices have also been on the rise, but the US national average remains slightly below $4 per gallon.
