Even in the retrial, Murat Dernan is sentenced to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity

The Constitutional Court in Pristina, even in the retrial, has found him guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity, Murat Derjan.
The trial was announced Monday by the trial panel consisting of Violet Namani-Hajra-chairman, Beqman Beqiri and the Shyti-member Framework, reports “Justice Voughty“.
According to Judge Naman-Hajra, the accused in prison sentence is also counted as having spent time in custody.
Deranj is also charged with the expenses of the procedure and for the 200-euro and another 100-euro judicial patrol for the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
Presented in the announcement were special prosecutor Ilir Morina and Derjani's defender, lawyer Murat Demolli.
Initially, the foundation on July 4th 2025 had declared a punishment act against accused Derjan and sentenced him to 20 years in prison, arguing that the accused committed crimes that conflict with international humanitarian law norms.
But, Appeals through the verdict compiled on April 30, 2026, has approved the defence complaint and, according to official duty, has annulled the Constitutional Act, turning the matter into retrial.
Otherwise, Murat Derjan was also accused of organizing and participating in terrorist groups. On that charge, the Constitutional Court in Pristina, on January 14, 2019, has declared a criminal conviction against him, condemning him to 5 years in prison. / Periscope/
