Kosovo police apprehend two persons for smuggling with migrants near Elez Khan

Kosovo police have arrested two people suspected of smuggling migrants near the border point Hani of Elez.
The operation took place on June 2nd around 21:30, under the operational plan “Igal Migration”.
According to the Police's announcement, patrol units have observed a suspected person accompanying three immigrants from the village of Blace in the direction of Kosovo territory. After the illegal crossing of the border line, migrants were seized from a vehicle allegedly waiting for them.
The vehicle was banned inflection and two Kosovo citizens were arrested, while the three migrants -- citizens of India -- were sent to the Migrants' Centre for further treatment and procedures. One of the suspects was sent to the holding for 48 hours, while the other was released after the interview.
By order of the prosecutor, suspected vehicle and mobile phone have been confiscated as material evidence.
Kosovo police stress that it remains committed to preventing cross-border crime, preserving citizens' security and ensuring control of the state border.
