Helped Brazil win the World Cup in 1970, dies at the age of 86, Brito

Britto, a defender on Brazil's 1970 World Cup winning team, has passed away at the age of 86.
The Brazilian Football Confederacy announced that Britain died Thursday but did not provide additional details.
Britto played 61 matches for the national team from 1964 to 1972, including one in the 1966 World Cup, along the way, forming a strong defence beside Wilson Piazza.
“Brito left us as one of the biggest defenders in Brazilian football history”, confederate president Samir Xaud said in a statement.
His contribution to the 1970 World Cup victory will be remembered eternally by all of us”, he added.
Brito was also part of the Brazilian teams that won Copa Roca in 1971 and Tacha Independencia in 1972.
“expresses my respect to this idol of our country”, Xaud said.
“Let his warrior spirit be an inspiration to our players who will compete at the” World Cup.
Brazil, which has won most of the World Cup by five, will compete for a sixth, starting Saturday against Morocco.
