EU urges quiet elections in Kosovo, institutions warn measures on interventions in election process

The European Union in Kosovo has called on all political subjects and their representatives to ensure a peaceful, free, just and comprehensive voting process on the eve of early elections.
In its response, the EU has stressed the importance of functioning institutions and continuing Kosovo's path towards European integration, underlining that the vote should be held without pressure and interference.
“Voting should be peaceful, free, just and inclusive”, the statement says, stressing that institutional stability is key to the democratic process in the country.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Police and the State Chief Prosecutor's Office have announced that they are handling numerous cases related to allegations of external intervention and illegal actions with the intention of influence on the will of citizens.
According to authorities, investigative and operational action has been undertaken over the past weeks, including arrests in several cases in the municipality of Gracanica, where it is suspected of violating the election process and exercising political pressure.
Security institutions have stressed that they remain committed to protecting the constitutional order and the integrity of elections in the Republic of Kosovo.
