Pope Leo versus Artificial Intelligence is becoming a weapon

Pope Leo XIV has made a strong call for a <x0mmatation” of artificial intelligence, warning that uncontrolled development of this technology can bring new forms of dominance, exclusion and even modern “slavlar”.
In its first account, entitled “Mgnificate Humanitas”, the pope points out that the global race for developing more and more advanced algorithms and mass data collection is being driven by geopolitical and commercial interests, which, according to him, significantly increases the risk of abuse of artificial intelligence, reports the U.S. BBC.
He has demanded that the ownership and control of AI data not only remain in the hands of private companies, urging governments to impose strong legal regulations, independent monitoring mechanisms and concrete measures for protecting workers and children from negative technology influences.
According to him, artificial intelligence should be rid of the dominant logic” and put into service of common good, comparing its potential impact on society with that of nuclear energy.
He has also strongly warned against using artificial intelligence in the weapons systems, stressing that life and death decisions should never be trusted with algorithms and that war cannot be justified morally through technology.
The long document, which contains tens of thousands of words, also addresses the social and economic impact of artificial intelligence, including the risk of job loss, as well as the need for a more fair distribution of the benefits resulting from technological development.
