That is how CEC spokesman Valmir Elez has indicated. The latter has also indicated that, under the Law for General Elections, the political party is considered automatically certified, so the deadline is only for new political subjects, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates.
“Starting on May 2nd and until May 10th, the new political subjects (coalialations, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must submit online to the CEC, respectively, at the Bureau for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control, the certificate application for participation in early elections for the Kosovo Assembly. Under the Law for General Elections, the political party is considered automatically certified, so this process will only apply to the new political subjects, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates”, Elesi told Gazeta Express.
Elez has also indicated that, by May 12th, the parties must hand over the list and names of candidates for MPs.
“The CEC has set an 11-day deadline -- from 2 May to 12 May 2026 -- for political subjects (political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) to hand over the list with the names of MPs to be certified to participate in the June 7th snap elections. Delivering the list with the names of candidates' candidates should be done via electronic platform, and the procedure is similar to the last elections held in December of last year”, he has declared.
