Political crisis, election going are hitting economy
The political crisis in the country and moving to new elections are creating serious uncertainty about Kosovo's economy, jeopardising business stability and economic development in general.
So it was said at the meeting organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kosovo with the business community.
Board Chairman Skender Krasniqi and the Chairman of the DHTIK Assembly Hamdi Malushaj stressed that despite the many challenges Kosovo faced since the beginning of last year, the Chamber has been constantly active in addressing private sector successes and problems.
On the other hand, Executive Director, Kufi Ahmeti, stressed that frequent elections are producing direct costs for the economy.
Any new election process means months lost for decision-making and development projects. This is costing businesses delays, financial losses and serious uncertainty about the future and investments. The economy cannot wait indefinitely for the political cycles. It needs immediate stability”.
Business representatives unveiled the challenges they are facing, including increased production costs, heavy import, lack of institutional support and numerous delays in decision making.
They highlighted the role of the DHTIK as a powerful voice of businesses, lobbiing for concrete solutions, proposing facilitating policies, as well as mediating communication between institutions and the private sector.
The importance of creating political stability as the precondition for economic development was also highlighted at the meeting, as well as the need for quick and sustainable decisions.
The attendees agreed to intensify communication and bilateral co-operation, with the goal of addressing the challenges and protection of business community interests in this challenging period.
