US Vice President Jay Dee Vance declared this during an interview for Fox News, where he said the mission was accomplished and could already be passed to the completion phase.
I really think we have arrived at a point where our mission has been accomplished. We can start finishing this,” said Vance.
However, he added, he would prefer that this conflict be concluded through “successful economics”, stressing the importance of diplomacy to reach a peaceful solution.
Vance also touched on the issue of Iran's nuclear programme, which continues to remain a major concern for the United States.
He stressed that it is essential for the US to have Iran unable to develop nuclear weapons, and as such, he demanded that all the enriched uranium materials be removed from Iran and passed under the control of the United States.
In this context, recent negotiations between Iran and the United States, held on 11-12 April in Islamabad and brokered by Pakistan, failed to reach an agreement, leaving room for further discussions on this sensitive issue.
