Trump: The US Army remains close to Iran until the true “agreement is reached”

US President Donald Trump said US forces will remain located “and around Iran” until a real “agreement is reached”. The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran remains in question, largely because of what Washington described as the <x0wwhiste” ) whether it includes Israeli attacks on Hezbollah's goals in Lebanon or not.

All American ships, planes, and military personnel, with ammunition, additional weapons and whatever else is appropriate and necessary for the death - dealing pursuit and destruction of an already degraded enemy will remain in the country, inside and around Iran, until the newly managed MARREWAT is fully implemented”, Trump wrote on his Social Truth platform, later April 8th.

“Understanding” for Lebanon

The truce faces serious uncertainty, as it is not clear whether the agreement includes Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hezbollah is an ally of Iran, while the US considers it a terrorist organisation.

US Vice President JD Vance, during a visit to Hungary on April 8th, said he believes there is a legitimate “legitimate understanding”, in terms of ceasefire conditions announced the night earlier by President Trump.

“I think the Iranians thought the ceasefire included Lebanon, but simply not”, he said, adding that “as we and neither did the Israelis say it would be part of the” ceasefire.

If Iran wants these negotiations to fail... because of Lebanon... it is ultimately his choice”, he told reporters, adding that Israel is willing to refrain from its attacks on Lebanon.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavet told reporters that Lebanon does not get involved in ceasefire conditions.

This will continue to be discussed I am sure between the president and the Israeli prime minister, [Benjamin] Netanyahu, the United States and Israel, and all parties involved”, she said.

In a statement issued by Netanyah's office, it also said the ceasefire does not include Lebanon.

This was contrary to a previous statement by Pakistani Prime Minister Shefbas Sharif, who is acting as mediator between the two sides.

The Health Ministry in Lebanon announced on April 8th that at least 250 people were killed within 24 hours of Israeli attacks, which occurred shortly after the ceasefire was declared.

Authorities said the number of victims is expected to increase.

The chief of UN Human Rights, Volker Turk, said the “century of murders and destruction in Lebanon today is simply horrible”.

The Red Cross said it was “indignant by death and destruction” throughout Lebanon.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said 1,139 people have been killed and 5,873 have been wounded in Lebanon since the start of the Israeli-Hezbollah war on March 2nd.

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bacre Qalibaf claimed three parts of Iran's 10-point proposal have been violated and added that, in such a situation, <x0ndari bilateral ceasefire or negotiations are unreasonable”.

In an X post, Qalibaf claimed violations include attacks on Lebanon, entry into Iranian airspace, and “maintaining Iran's right to enrich [the uranium]”.

Qalibaf is reportedly expected to lead Tehran's delegation, together with Foreign Minister Abbas Aracchi, in talks mediated by Pakistan to Islamabad on 11 April.

Iranian President Masud Peskian said the ceasefire in Lebanon is the essential condition of his country's agreement with Washington.

Washington and Tehran agreed on April 7th to a two-week ceasefire to give both sides time to negotiate a peace agreement.

Trump wrote in the social media that he has received a 10-point proposal from Tehran and that talks will be held with closed doors.

He said that “only one group PIKASKASI meaningful” was acceptable to the United States, although it did not provide further details.

“PICA are the basis we agreed on for an ARPUSHIM”, he said.

Besides the dispute over Lebanon, the prospects of a lasting ceasefire also shake up uncertainty about freedom of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Although giving no details about the Iranian proposal, Trump insisted that Tehran should allow free passage of ships into the straits a key maritime corridor through which some 20 percent of global oil and gas pass.

Minimum Traffic in Hormuz

According to data from the marine monitor, Marine Traffic, four ships crossed the water channel on April 8th.

The early stages of ship activity are emerging in the Hormuz Strait following the ceasefire announcement, which includes the provisional reopening of the strategic water channel, to enable negotiations”, the monitors wrote in an X post.

He added that “hundreds of ships remain in the region, including 426 citsterna, 34 LPG carriers and 19 LNG” vessels.

A senior Iranian official said ships sailing in the straits, however, need the permission of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to pass.

Reuters news agency and others reported that carriers were waiting for more clarification before the transitor was resumed.

This waterway is essential for global transportation of oil and natural gas and has been largely closed since the start of US and Israeli air strikes against Iran on 28 February.

Tehran has retaliated by launching missiles and fears against Israel and US Arab allies in the region.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran told brokers it would limit the number of ships crossing the straits daily and that it would collect fees for its permission.

Before the war, ships moved freely through the straits without the need to coordinate with Iran.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran is setting tariffs in the Chinese yua a move that, according to regional officials, threatens to reduce Western influence and allies on oil markets.
