A severe tragedy has occurred in Pennsylvania, where a mother and her six children, aged three to 11, lost their lives as a result of a powerful fire explosion in a apartment.
The event took place in Lamar Township, in Clinton County near Mill Hall, on Sunday morning. Firefighters reacted immediately after reporting of explosions and flames, but when they arrived at the scene, the house was already completely involved in the fire, making it impossible to rescue trapped persons inside.
Victims have been identified as 34-year-old Sarah Stolzfus and her six children: four boys aged 11, 10, five and three, as well as two girls aged eight and six.
Authorities have launched investigations into clarifying the causes of the blast, while allegedly a gas leak inside the house may have caused fatal fire.
A neighbor, Christina Duck, who was at home at the moment of the explosion, described dramatic moments. I heard a boom and I could feel it. I rose up, looked out the window, and saw the flames coming out of the windows. I rushed out, and within a minute the whole house was engulfed by fire”, she said.
According to neighbours, the family had moved to that apartment just a few months earlier, while children were often seen playing abroad, making losing the local community even more painful.
