Tehran said on Sunday that “nobody expected the US and Iran to reach an agreement in the first round of negotiations.
It was clear that we should not expect to reach an agreement in a single session.
“No one expected this”, Esmaeil Baqaei, Iranian diplomatic spokesperson for Iranian state television, said after announcing the failure of talks in Islamabad to end the war in the Middle East. Foreign Ministry spokesman said it was “sure that our contacts with Pakistan, as well as with our other friends in the region, will continue”, airs ANSA.
According to reports, Tehran's delegation, sent to Islamabad, has already left Pakistan.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance says the US and Iran have failed to reach an agreement following high-risk peace talks in Pakistan, writes the BBC, broadcast Kosova Preris.
Vance says Iran chose “not to accept our terms”, adding that the United States should see a key “direction” from Tehran not to develop nuclear weapons.
