A Slovak court in October last year ruled that Juraj Cintula, currently 73, was guilty of terrorism charges after shooting five times at Ficos from a nearby distance, while the prime minister greeted a crowd in a town in downtown Slovakia in May 2024, A2 is quoted as saying. CNN.
“Planification of the attack, combined with the knowledge that it was attacking the prime minister, shows that he must have been aware of the negative effect on the functioning of government power,” Judge Petr Kana was quoted as saying by the Dennik N news portal in the argument.
Supreme Court ruling is final, T news agency reported ASR.
The court did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The 2024 attack, which highlighted deep political polarization in this Central European country of some 5.4 million people, left Ficon in critical condition, but later recovered and returned to duty.
