Eleven countries voted in favour and two members of the council abstained (Pakistan and Colombia), the BBC reported, broadcast Gazeta Express.
After weeks of negotiations, the draft softened from the start under Chapter V. II (authorizing military force) in the removal of Chapter V II, but “the authorisation of states to use all necessary defence tools”, in the end by vigorously encouraging defence efforts.
Bahrain Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani led the meeting.
Speaking ahead of the vote, he told council members that the draft did not create a new reality, but was a serious response to a pattern of Iran's repeated hostile behaviour that must be halted.
He said that the Security Council's failure to respond to the use of a vital waterway as a means of impact would have serious consequences for the world and could be repeated on straits and other waterways, transforming the world into a jungle.
