Rex: RTK board and KPM selection completely non-transparent, suspend the process

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo, Movement FOL, Kosovo's Institute for Justice and activist Butterie Kusari have organised media conferences to express concern about the process of selecting RTK and KPM members, reports Online Economy.

Xhemajl Rexha, chairman of the AGK, said this process is completely nontransparent from the ruling party, the Vetevendosje Movement.

“has gone in such a way that there has been a lack of transparency, and for this the opposition has boycotted the commission for RTK... MPs have not had the time to consider the candidate file. AGK requires that this process be suspended and resumed when it is made sure that there is a fair and transparent process. RTK and KPM are strategic for media freedom in Kosovo, and we would rather have the delay for board members. The time at which the interview candidates were invited has been limited and unable to prepare for the interviews that begin today. One of the candidates was invited last night at 9:24 for the interview today and it's a practice that should not be followed”, he said.

While, the Council of Meddition Demolli executive director of the FOL Movement, said what they saw on Tuesday at the Assembly of the RTK Board members' selection commission is quite different from past practices.

What we've seen yesterday is quite the opposite of what was developed in the past”, she said.
