The increased demand for greater capacities and international standards, especially on the eve of organising the 2030 Mediterranean Games, has increased pressure for a fast-paced and clear decision on the location of this major project.
In this context, the chairman of the Drenas municipality, Ramiz Ladrovci, speaking of Kosovo pris about the issue, has stated there is informal information concerning the stadium's possible location, stressing that the final decision has not yet been taken and that the process is in the evaluation phase from the responsible institutions.
He has made it known that according to the information he possesses, one of the options he is running is to build the stadium near Pristina Mall, however, has expressed reservations about this idea and has warned of legal implications in case of possible misuse.
“400000 ticket requests”, pressure raises debates on the new stadium
I have non-official information that will be done behind Pristina Mall, in Gracanica, if someone sends it to Pristina Mall for their business, it will have a lot of problems with the law because that property costs a price for”, Ladrovci said at first.
I have non-official information that I don't believe in, but it turns out that he had the requests. As far as I have information, the government or the ministry has assigned a commission that will make the assessment and decide, which is from the Olympic Committee, which is from the federation and the ministry”.
We under the Mediterranean Games had to be and the stadium was pre-eminent, we have a signature with the prior minister we've made and we have it in a memorandum signed to build the stadium as soon as possible. Me and all the infrastructure that I have in terms of the Mediterranean Games, I have made available and I am willing to make any intervention that will require this committee to say or by this commission set out on this issue”, the chairman of the Drenses concluded.
National Stadium is included in the 2026 budget, allocates 4m euros
Finally, Minister of the Ministry for Youth and Sports Blerim Gashani acknowledged that currently, Drenas remains the most likely location for starting construction of the new stadium.
We remember that Kosovo will be hosting the Mediterranean Games in 2030, and the construction of a new stadium has been promised for the event, so with the approach of deadlines for this event, responsible institutions are expected to intensify the process and come up with a final decision that will determine one of the most important sports projects in the country.
