Peter Magyar: I call on Serbian people to draw strength from elections yesterday in Hungary

Responding to a question from the Serbian media, he said it is important for relations between Serbia and Hungary to remain good, primarily because of Hungarians in Vojvodina, although he assumed who the “maximum” of great friendship between Aleksandar Vuciq and Viktor Orban, but Robert Fico are.

He added that he does not want to interfere with Serbia's internal affairs, but that he could tell the Serbian people of “strength from last night's elections in Hungary”, Telegrafi broadcast.

During the election campaign, a move happened that looked like a so-called “false falfoming” on Sunday of Easter, when an alleged attempt was planned to attack the pipeline, which Prime Minister Viktor Orban had already talked about a week earlier, announcing that something like this would happen, Peter Magyar recalled.

So, I can say it got pretty slow and it was clear that the organisers withdrew from it and didn't go as far as their superiors expected in Russia and Viktor Orban. I think they did the right thing, because the Tisza government wants to investigate exactly what happened if there was a real danger because it's possible that there was. But if there was a real danger, then the prime minister should lead the country and not play a role in a show like Victor Orban on Easter Sunday, who flew by helicopter and gathered all Hungarian propaganda with helmets and uniforms to be threatened together”, he said.

In such a situation, the prime minister should ensure the country's security, the Hungarian added.

Hungary's “citizens, like citizens of Serbia, rightly expect their leadership to ensure security, development and peace. Under the Tisza government, there will be order, peace, security and development in Hungary that's what I can say”, he said.

He would be very happy to meet with the Serbian leadership, Peter Magyar added.

“I know exactly what is happening in Serbia and I know what kind of ties there are, there are and there may be between the government of Orban and Serbia led by (Aleksandar) Vuciq, just as I know what kind of connections are between Slovakia Robert Fico and Viktor Orban and approximately who is behind these relations, who is the host of these great friendships<1>, he added.

However, for the sake of Hungarians living in Serbia, it is very important for Budapest that relations between Serbia and Hungary, which can currently be considered good, remain such and not depend on individuals, Magyar said.

I believe this is in the interest of both the current Serbian leadership and the Hungarians living in Serbia, as well as our interest. I am open to co-operation, despite the fact that we may think differently about the world in many ways than Serbian President Vuciq or leadership. However, the friendship of our peoples and existing good relations are very important to us. I can say we won't interfere with other countries' internal affairs. I see for myself how the protests are and how authorities treat them”, he said.

He noted that, as he said, “similar to Hungary, independent media in Serbia are in a very difficult situation”.

What I can say to the Serbian people, without interfering with their internal affairs, is that they should draw strength from yesterday's elections in Hungary. I tell many other countries where people are in a difficult situation, where there is a so - called hybrid regime, that is, where there is no full rule of law: it's possible, it's really possible if people unite. We Hungarians have experienced this many times throughout history. If we unite, we can progress even under the most difficult circumstances and succeed. Yesterday it was precisely what we showed that despite all the international obstacles and support Viktor Orbán had, from practically all the global political elite, the Russian president, the American president, the Chinese president, the Turkish president, the Israeli prime minister, as well as many other leaders such as Vuciq and Robert Fico quite a Hungarian people said Hungary's history was written by Hungarians in Hungary and the Hungarian people won”, the Hungarian said.

Despite all, he says, he is happy to meet and speak, to be present and to co-operate, he added.

And I will do the same with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, despite the fact that they fully supported Viktor Orban's campaign, contrary to the views of many Vojvodina Hungarians who said they wanted to decide for themselves whom to vote. We thank all Vojvodina Hungarians who voted for us, but I can tell all Hungarians, including those abroad, that they can rely on the Tisza government. They will receive the same support as before, maintain dual citizenship and vote rights, but the money they received will no longer be absorbed mainly by people close to Viktor Orban, but will in fact reach the Hungarians, whether in Vojvodina, Transylvania or Romania”, he told the diaspora.
