NATO Allies refuse to be included in the blockade of Iranian ports imposed by Trump

NATO allies said Monday they would not be included in US President Donald Trump's plan to block Iranian ports, proposing to intervene only after the fighting is over, in a move that would likely anger Trump and raise tensions in the alliance. Trump said the American army would [...]
Trump said the US Army would eliminate any Iranian ships that would be approaching the blockade that began Monday, after weekend talks failed to reach an agreement to end the six-week conflict with Iran, Reuters writes, records Telegrafi.
Trump initially stressed that the US would work with other countries to block ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but the US military later specified that blockades would only be implemented for ships going to or from Iranian ports.
Since the war began on February 28th, Iran has largely blocked the waterway for all ships except its own.
He has sought to make his control over the constant strait and perhaps collect taxes from ships that use it.
“Blokada will start soon. Other countries will be included in this” blockade, Trump said in a post on the Social Truth on Sunday.
But NATO allies, including Britain and France, said they would not be brought into conflict “by participating in the blockade, saying instead they were working for an initiative to open the strait, through which normally a fifth of global oil supplies are passed.
And according to Reuters, their refusal to participate is another sticking point with Trump, which has threatened to withdraw from the military alliance and is considering the withdrawal of several American troops from Europe after some countries denied American military aircraft using their airspace for attacks on Iran. /Telegraph/
