Only during the period between January and April of this year have some fatal cases been recorded that directly relate to the workplace.
The chairman of the Technical Workers' Union and the Private Sector, Yusuf Azemi for Clankosova, has indicated that the number of victims has reached seven within the first few months of the year.
According to him, this situation is clear indication that safety standards at work are not being respected at the proper level by companies.
He has stressed that the main responsibility falls on the owners of companies, which must ensure safe conditions for workers, in line with the laws in force for safety and health at work.
There are seven people. The company's owners must enforce the law on security and health”, he said.
At the same time, Azem has called for greater commitment from responsible institutions, emphasising the role of the Labour Inspectorate.
According to him, this institution should be more rigorous in monitoring and avoid any tolerance against violations that endanger workers' lives.
“Inspectorati must do its job, not make concessions”, it is expressed.
Recently, one person died in Ferizaj, allegedly falling from the seventh floor of an object under construction.
This case has led to seven of those who have lost their lives in the workplace, only during this year's four - month period.
