Since Tuesday's early hours on April 14th, the encrypted operation “Daku” is under which State Police have executed 28 precautionary measures in several provinces in the country. Most of the banned persons are Albanian citizens.
Italian media report that the operation in question has been co-ordinated by Trento's Antimafia structures and operational units, with the involvement of the Investigative Department of Operations in Trieste. Investigations have focused on a suspected drug trafficking ring that operated mainly in the province of Bolzano, broadcasts Clankosova.tv.
According to authorities, the criminal group dealt with trafficking and distribution of narcotics. The following action is still expected to bring new details to light.
The name of the operation “Daku” is linked to a nickname used among suspected members of the group, mainly Albanians.
Security measures are being implemented by the Bolzano Flying Team, in co-operation with police forces from several other cities such as Belluno, Train, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, as well as special investigative and crime prevention units from different areas of Italy.
Of the 28 suspects, 10 are placed in prison, 8 in house arrest, while another 10 are ordered to stay in their quarters.
The operation has also included other provinces, such as Barletta-Andria-Train, Brescia, Monza Brianza, Pordenone and Sondrio.
