US Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Pakistan on Tuesday for talks with Iran on a possible deal to end the war, Axios reports citing three American sources.
According to the American news site Vance, who led the US delegation to the first round of talks, will arrive in Islamabad as part of the team from Washington, with a two-week ceasefire on the eve of its end, writes Sky News.
Steve Whitoff and Jared Kouchner, who were also present last time, are also expected to travel with Vince.
The Pakistani capital, Islamabad, is preparing to host a possible second round of US-Iran peace talks. However, it remains uncertain whether Iran will participate.
Rejecting a second round of negotiations earlier, Tehran has now said it is reviewing his withdrawal.
A senior Pakistani official said the country has “received a positive signal” from Iran regarding participation in negotiations, adding that talks could be held within the next 48 hours.
