The US imposes sea blockades on the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, east of the Hormuz Strait, which will be applied to all ships without taking into account the flag. According to a U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announcement sent to sailors and reported by Reuters, any ship entering or exiting the blocked area will be subject to ban, deviation and seizure.
The blockade is expected to start at 2: 00 p.m. (15:00 BST). The report also says it will not prevent the neutral transition through the Strait of Hormuz towards or from non-Iranian destinations.
