Journalist Michael Martens, who has long followed developments in the Balkans, has published on the X platform some of the questions Thaci has addressed.
According to him, the full interview is expected to be published during the evening.
One of the issues raised in the interview relates to the impact of the court process in The Hague on interpreting Kosovo's history. Martins asked the question:
So, is there any danger that this trial would distort the historical picture of what happened in Kosovo in the 1990s, because for surface observers it could fuel the false arrogance that both sides have committed equal-weight crimes?”
Also, the journalist has asked Thaci about the role of former prosecutor Jack Smith, who filed the indictment against former KLA leaders:
“Donald Trump and his special envoy Richard Green have expressed very negative opinions about prosecutor Jack Smith, who filed charges against both (first towards Thaci, then against Trump). Do you consider Mr. Thaci Smith just as a political instrument in a bigger game?”
This marks Thaci's second interview from prison, following earlier statements he has given to the media in Kosovo.
