Historically, Rutte confirms: NATO Summit 2027 to be held in Tirana

Secretary - General NATO, Mark Rutte, has confirmed that the upcoming North Atlantic Alliance Summit will take place in Tirana during 2027.
The confirmation was made Wednesday during a media conference following NATO Summit works, where the leaders of member states discussed Euro-Atlantic security, strengthening defence capacities and the alliance's current challenges.
Earlier, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama had also indicated that Albania will be host to the 2027 summit, while Rutte's statement officially sealed the decision.
Keeping the NATO Summit in Tirana is considered a historic moment for Albania, as it will be the first time the country hosts the most important political event of the military alliance.
After confirmation, Rama reacted via a video on social networks, ironising claims that the summit would not be organised in Albania.
The time that with Albania was done whatever the others wanted. Now Albania does what it says and says what it does. So the upcoming summit will be in Tirana”, Rama said.
The 2027 summit is expected to gather in the Albanian capital heads of state and government of NATO member states, as well as high-level delegations, putting Albania at the centre of international attention for security issues and Euro-Atlantic co-operation.
