Former Croatian Defence Minister Ante Kotronovolic has commented on Serbia's arming, but also on other security issues related to the region and the world.
In an interview in N1, he also cited Kosovo, saying he believes Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq would have attacked him if Russia's war with Ukraine went differently.
I would like to remember that Croatia and Serbia signed a bilateral agreement for military-technical co-operation in 2009. On its basis, we have sent relief to them during the floods, while together we have performed about ten or 15 military exercises of various kinds. All Aleksandar Vuciq is now doing about arming is an internal instrument that strengthens his position and his party's position, along with trying to control all segments needed to stay in power”, Cotronovoq said and continued:
“also, there they speak in an obsession with Kosovo, which they cannot overcome. I believe that Vuciq with his forces and with some Russians would be down to Kosovo if Russia had won Ukraine within a month. Who would have stopped him then? ”
He also stressed that there are differences when Croatia armes itself and when Serbia is armed.
“Croatia is a NATO member and has obligations. That is by no means a threat, and we would not join forces to attack Serbia. These are pure nonsense”, he said.
