Crime in the workplace, the construction Society: Strengthen the implementation of security standards in any location

A person has lost his life after falling from a building facility on “Remzi Hoxha” in Ferizaj.

The case occurred on April 13, 2026, about 11:45, when police accepted information about a person who had fallen from a building under construction.

And after that they have reacted by the Association of Builders of Kosovo.

The construction sector represents one of the fundamental pillars of economic development and employment in the country, directly contributing to the transformation and modernisation of national infrastructure. In this context, workplace safety remains a non-negotiable priority that requires continued commitment, high professional standards and effective institutional co-ordination.

The loss of 7 workers during the first months of 2026 alone constitutes a serious indicator and a clear call for immediate action in the direction of strengthening the implementation of security standards in any location, without exception of”, it is said in response.

The Kosovo Builders' Association has expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

“at the same time, we stress that addressing these cases should be based on professional, balanced and free from any tendency for generalisation or unilateral blaming of the sector. Builders, companies and investors are directly interested in ensuring safe working conditions and cannot be treated as a source of danger, but as key partners in managing and minimising it”, the report said.

The response is said to be clearly oriented towards rigorous implementation of the security standards and full technical and organisational preparation of each construction site, in line with professional legislation and norms in force.

Also important is individual responsibility at the workplace. The Society calls for each worker to rigorously respect safety regulations and use personal protective equipment at any given moment as an essential element in protecting his life and health.

In this direction, the Kosovo Builders' Association requires intensifying direct co-operation with relevant institutions, in particular with the Labour Inspectorate, to build a common and sustainable approach that promotes real security standards in practice.

Our approach is clear and firm: not guilt, but prevention, where the protection of life and health of workers is the absolute priority”, said the response.

In addition, the construction association stresses that job safety cannot be reduced to punitive measures; it is built on professional responsibilities, proper preparation and genuine co-operation between companies, workers and institutions. /Telegraph
