CNN: US naval blockade tests Iran's patience limit

Donald Trump believes that economic pain will do what weeks of air attacks failed: break Tehran's will and force it to make concessions. But some experts say it could be a read-out Iran border on pressure, writes CNN, broadcast Periscopi. The blockade began today, as talks [...]
The blockade began today after weekend peace talks in Pakistan ended without any progress. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) has pledged revenge, and Iranian officials have warned of chain effects on the global economy, including the cost of the American consumer.
<x0Iran has several options to compensate for the economic effects of the American blockade, but their overall impact is uncertain”, said CNN Hasan Alhasan, senior Middle East policy researcher at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in Bahrain, adding that Tehran “may try to increase oil and gas exports through alternative routes that avoid the Strait of Hormux<>.
This could include gas exports through pipelines to Iraq, Turkey and Armenia, Alhasan said, or oil exports through his Neka oil terminal at the Caspian Sea.
<x0ran can also increase fuel smuggling through its long-standing land border with Pakistan or avoid blockade by mixing its oil with Iraqi oil, as it has done in the past”, Alhasan stressed.
Furthermore, Iran can choose a military route, by undertaking attacks on American naval ships or by convincing Houth in Yemen to try to block Bab El Mandeby's Strait, Alhasan told CNN.
In all cases, blocking Iranian ports, the US is opening a new chapter in this war, testing Iran's patient limit in different directions.
