Democratic Party of Kosovo has turned to the President's Duty, Haxhiu Albulen, with an official request for the proceedings to appoint the second member of this party to the Central Election Commission (KQZ).
In the letter sent, PDK stresses that CEC composition has remained unfinished during former presidential mandate Vjosa Osmani and that representing the two-member party in this institution is not a matter of political interpretation, but a right stemming from constitutional provisions.
Also, The PDK emphasises the importance of respecting the current institutional practice, under which this party has been represented by two members in the CEC, guaranteeing equality and balance among political subjects.
Referring to Article 139, paragraph 4 of the Constitution of Kosovo, The PDK argues that the distribution of countries in the CEC should be based on representation of parliamentary groups in the Assembly. According to the PDK, under current conditions with four parliamentary groups, each group should have one representative in the first round, while the remaining countries should be divided proportionally according to the size of the groups.
