Bayraktari alarms after death at Ferizaj: Negligence and lack of control are killing workers

Security and Work Health expert Naim Bajraktari has spoken after the death of a 59-year-old labour worker at a workshop in Ferizaj.

Bajraktari has said these frequent cases in Kosovo are happening mainly due to lack of control.

This neglect, as insinuation on the part of the inspectorate, as in the part of employers, is painful what's going on, we have eight cases for three months. It is truly surprising why we neglect the lives of workers. They're our workers, they've come to support the family, to keep the company”.

We need to take care of their lives, take care of them. How are they cared for? Not only is it done by the employer, it's due from the inspectorate, from the state checks, even though the responsibility falls on the employer, we have to control the employer”, he said at FIVE RTV Dukaagjini

So he said: “The costs made in the maintenance of workers are not called expenses, it is an investment”, he added.

According to Bajraktar, Ferizaj has only two inspectors who handle workers' safety.
