National Emergency Director Skender Brataj said hospitalised persons are not at risk for life.
The fire that began at about 5:00 in the building near the University Hospital Centre “Mother Teresa” was put under control about three hours later, according to authorities.
The palace facade was completely burned to the 12th floor and, despite the rapid intervention of fire fires, penetrated into the apartment, before being controlled.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Earlier, Arben Cara, director of the fire service, said the fire was located, and was not allowed to spread to other palaces and buildings around it.
State Police General Director Skender Hita said two evacuated residents have received medical assistance because of asphyxia, as well as some firefighters who have suffered burns.
We can't talk about total balance. When we search all the apartments, we can talk about balance”, Hita said, REL reports, broadcast Periscope.
The defence ministry said 26 army members were engaged in this operation, and a Cougar helicopter was working on the complete destruction of the fire.
Emergency teams intervened, removing several residents trapped in the building and struggling to breathe.
About an hour after the fire blazed, police expanded the security perimeter, urging media and residents to move, as the situation deteriorated with the spread of the flames even inside the flats. /Periscope
