Croatia aims to increase number of soldiers in Kosovo in NATO mission

Croatian Defence Minister Ivan Anusic has indicated that Croatia is considering the possibility of increasing its number of members in the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR.
“Planing to increase the number of Croatian soldiers by 200, as much as Croatia's Parliament decision” allows us, Anusic has declared, Croatia's Radio Television (HRT).
During a media conference in Ankara under the NATO Summit, the Croatian minister said within the Alliance the possibility of reducing the total number of troops in KFOR is being considered.
However, he stressed that Croatia estimates that stability of Southeast Europe remains a key security issue.
“Always stress the importance of the stability of the Western Balkans and the need for NATO to remain strongly present in this region”, he said.
NATO during June announced that during the next year there will be reductions in its presence in Kosovo. Peacekeeping Mission NATO, KFOR, was deployed in Kosovo in 1999, after the war ended.
