RTL writes that the child had been playing with other kindergarten children under surveillance in Sieghen on Tuesday (March 17th), when the caretakers noticed that the boy was missing, they began a search.
Shortly thereafter, he was found in Sieg, rescue teams pulled the child out of the water, and when he was sent to the hospital, he was in critical condition.
On Monday (March 23rd), police announced that the child was dead in the afternoon.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
