The EU sees American gas as the option for Kosovo: Renewable energy priority

The European Union does not see liquid natural gas (LNG) as components of Kosovo's future energy structure, as long as the country's absolute priority remains meeting commitments within the Energy Community.
In an answer to Albanian Post, a European Commission spokeswoman has stated that EU and Kosovo priorities remain accelerating the transition towards renewable resources by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050.

The European Commission's spokeswoman has stressed that the EU continues to support Kosovo's efforts to accelerate the extent of renewable resources, including funding projects, providing technical assistance, modernising transmission infrastructure, and additional financial support through the Reform and Growth Mechanism.
This supports progress towards harmonisation with EU climate and energy legislation, strengthens internal energy security, and reduces exposure to supply risks”, the European Commission's spokeswoman has added.
Kosovo does not have any pipelines linking it to gas networks in the region, unlike most Western Balkan countries, mainly because of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's refusal, which in the fall of 2021 suspended the project with Northern Macedonia, to be put forward through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
But quick geopolitical developments have led the US to return with the same demand for Kosovo, insisting that the country reconsider its position and be included in the major American energy project in the Western Balkans. /Periscope/
