Kosovo's customs has announced that anti-commercial units have discovered a considerable amount of ethanol (alcol, concentrated 96%) in the Prizren region, preventing the avoidance of fiscal obligations worth over 6 thousand euros.
It is known that alcohol was discovered on two separate occasions.
During the search on the ground, anti-commercial units have banned a transport vehicle, where 500 liters of ethanol (alcol 96%) were found without corresponding documentation. The individuals involved have not possessed documentation that testifies to the regular origin of goods, legal import or customs duties.
After stopping the vehicle, immediate operational and additional checks have been taken in suspected locations. As a result of these professional actions and operational co-ordination, yet another 500 liters of ethanol (alcol 96%) have been discovered hidden in a house garage in the same region”.
The total amount detected amounts to 1,000 liters of ethanol (concentrated alcool 96%), which is suspected of origin from Serbia, and for which no documentation that testifies to the origin, regular import, or payment of fiscal obligations was presented. The entire amount is seized by Kosovo Customs.
Based on fiscal calculations, this amount represents avoidance from paying excise, customs and T taxes VSH worth about 6,260 euros, causing direct damage to the budget of the Republic of Kosovo and unfair competition in the market.
The case is being addressed in regular investigative procedure in co-ordination with competent institutions and all legal actions on persons involved will be taken, in line with the legislation in force”, the report said.
