Rubio also warned that Iran could attempt the establishment of a tax on Strait of Hormuz, but stressed that any efforts for a permanent fee on this strategic waterway would be unacceptable.
As for the relationship between Russia and Iran, he said Moscow is currently not taking actions that could influence or obstruct the American military operation.
Asked about the possibility of a ground intervention, Rubio stressed that the US administration is offering President Donald Trump numerous options to adapt to developments on the ground.
We can achieve our goals even with ground troops, but our goal is to give the president maximum flexibility to deal with any unexpected situation,” he said.
