Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran has not held negotiations with the United States, rejecting President Donald Trump's claims that Washington and Tehran have made significant progress in the talks, according to Iran's State News Agency (IRNA).
Responding to an IRNA reporter's question whether the United States has withdrawn from threats against Iran's critical infrastructure, Baghaei said recent days have received messages through “friendly states” that follow a US request for negotiations to end the war. Iran responded to “appropriately” in line with what it called the country's “principled attitudes”.
Baghaei said Iran's answers included warnings of what he described as grave consequences if Iran's critical infrastructure was attacked. He added that any action against Iran's energy infrastructure would be faced with a <x0-seat, immediate and effective” response by Iran's armed forces, the IRNA reported.
The spokesman also dismissed any negotiations or conversation with the United States during what he called the last 24 days of a mandatory “wart”. He said Iran's position on Hormuz Strait and conditions for ending the war have not changed, according to the IRNA.
