Investigations begin for fuel prices in Kosovo

The authority suggests that all companies exercising activities in fuel trading are currently under monitoring.
According to the AKK's announcement, through this monitoring, the Authority aims to provide protection from prohibited agreements, abuse of dominant position, as well as co-ordinated practices between companies operating in the market.
We recall that any agreement, co-ordination or unilateral action among businesses, aimed at or effect artificial price hikes, market sharing or limiting competition, constitutes serious violation of the law and is subject to legal sanctions. In practice, fuel prices on international markets are constantly updated, reflecting various factors as offers and demand, processing costs, as well as economic and geopolitical developments. For this reason, price fluctuations in the local market are expected to reflect the direction and size of changes in international markets, always based on principles of transparency, regular market functioning and consumer protection from unfair prices or practices that violate competition in the Kosovo Republic's”, the Competition Authority is said to be announcing in 05.03.2026.
The authority urges businesses to act in accordance with principles of free and fair competition; to avoid any form of price co-ordination with other operators; and to show social responsibility to citizens and consumers.
The competition's <x0) Authority stresses that this monitoring process is under way in co-ordination and close co-operation with MINT, ATK, Dogan and other mechanisms responsible for implementing the law, with the aim of ensuring full respect for legislation in force, as well as the decisions and regulations set by relevant institutions in the Republic of Kosovo”, the AKK's announcement concludes.
