Zelensky proposes Sergii Kortsky for Ukraine prime minister

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Rada Verkovna with the nomination of Sergii Koretsky, executive director of state energy company Natogaz, to prime minister, Deputy Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefancuk said on Wednesday.
Ukraine's “Rada Verkhovna has received a request by Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the appointment of Sergii Koretsky to the post of Ukrainian prime minister. Parliament will examine it in the near future in line with the procedure specified”, Stefancuk wrote on Facebook.
If approved by lawmakers, Kortsky will succeed Yulia Svrydenkon, whose dismissal was supported by parliament Tuesday by 258 votes, prompting the resignation of the entire cabinet under Ukrainian law.
The appointment comes after Zelensky's announcement over the weekend that Ukraine needed a renovated government as part of what he described as a updated political strategy.
Svrydenko, who became prime minister in July 2025, confirmed on Sunday that she would resign shortly after Zelensky announced plans to replace the cabinet.
After meeting with Svrydenkon, Zelensky said the government's reshuffle was aimed at strengthening the readiness and governance of Ukraine. /Periscopi
