3,500 American sailors and marines arrive in the Middle East

The US “Mararis and Marines aboard the USS Tripoli (LHA 7) arrived in the US Central Command responsibility area on 27 March,” said CENTCOM, reports CNNI'll follow the Express.
Such units have traditionally been used for missions such as large-scale evacuations and amphibious operations that require movement from ship to land, including raids and attacks. They also have ground and air combat components, and some units are trained for special operations.
A familiar source of dislocation told CNN earlier that the presence of this unit gives commanders additional options for a wide range of possible situations
