Albania's Assembly approves the declaration of the innocence of former KLA elites.
“Kugria, given the historical truth of the KLA war, stresses that this army was a legitimate liberation movement that fought for human rights. The Assembly notes with concern that the Special Prosecutor's request risks creating a dangerous twist of history, equated a people's legitimate struggle for survival and freedom with the crimes of the Serbian regime, which committed ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity against the people of Kosovo.
Albania's Assembly declares full and unconditional support for KLA leaders, who were and remain representatives of the aspirations and rights of the people of Kosovo for freedom and self-rule. Their struggle was just, based on universal principles of human rights. He addresses the Specialised Chambers in The Hague, the international community and international justice institutions to declare Hashim Thaci's innocence, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, through a fair and impartial process that respects and does not violate the dignity of the liberation war of the people of Kosovo.
It reminds the international community that the KLA war took place under conditions when the Milosevic regime was carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide acts against Kosovo's civilian population, and that NATO intervention in 1999 confirmed the legitimacy of that war and the criminal nature of the Milosevic regime. Expressing full solidarity with the people of Kosovo and the families of the KLA leaders, reflecting that the Albanian nation remains united in defending historical truth and the dignity of the freedom struggle.
Express commitment to take any necessary diplomatic and political steps at international forums to ensure that the historical truth about the KLA's war is not violated and justice is exercised fairly”, the statement said./Periscopi/
