Sorensen extends mandate as emissar for Kosovo- Serbia

The decision to extend Sorensen's mandate until February 29th of 2028 was adopted at the Council meeting.

EU Special Representatives are nominated by the High Representative and appointed by the Council to promote EU policies and interests in specific regions and countries, as well as issues of particular concern or interest for the EU. They play an active role in efforts to consolidate reforms, stability and rule of law” is said in the EU Council's announcement.

Sorensen was appointed as the emissary of dialogue in January last year as the successor of Miroslav Lajcak.

After the Danish appointment, the EU specified that its tasks are relief in dialogue, which will contribute to a comprehensive normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, and in particular implementation of the Agreement on the road to normalisation, as well as implementation of Anex.
