On the first line of rescue, Gjakova firefighters challenged flooding

In the rain that stopped for hours and the crowded roads of the Gjakova Fire Department did not seek refuge.

In recent floods faced by heavy rainfall, firefighters settled on the first line of rescue, helping entire families who remained confined to their homes.

Those circumstances show these images, day and night, firefighters had each other, boats and hope.

I was personally in the Green Village, we evacuated over 30 families, I was there personally. It's been an emotional situation, let's see family members. The first floor was completely flooded, the family went to the second floor, caught in the window. Everybody said: Come to me, the other one, I'll handle it. You should have cooled off with them. They said we're all gonna pull out. We tried families with children to evacuate the first, were in panic, were crying”, declared Fitim Agush, a fireman.

Agush shows that the profession has been able to challenge him but also to forgive valuable moments.

I have a case of an elderly man to evacuate. The Green Village was all water. Older people are more stressed, scared. Children and older ones are the most delicate in such cases. Without wanting a job you can't get into this profession. You should know that this job has all sorts of challenges. There were times when the children would say very good things to us. We were told “you're my hero” We've had so much praise. Firefighters are always in the service of the people in every situation, fire, water, house closure. Everything! Before you get to the country, we usually share tasks, but water is the biggest challenge than the ground is unaware that you don't know the terrain, you don't know where to step.
