Rama is present at the session, Vetevendosje says she won't vote on Pristina budget

Pristina's Municipal Assembly, in an extraordinary session, without its chairman, has discussed the adoption of the 2026 fiscal year budget, where municipal directors and political party representatives presented their positions on the division of financial means and development priorities of the capital. Director for Finance Valbona Makoli has introduced the structure of [...]
The director for Finance, Valbona Makolli, has introduced the budget structure and requested its approval as a whole, while the LDK and PDK have expressed emphasis on stability and development, while the Vetevendosje Movement has declared it will not vote on this budget, calling it unacceptable and problematic in some respects.
“The entire budget is divided into 5 economic categories. The 2026 fiscal year wage and labor category is 48.3m euros for the category. The category of goods and services amounts to 32 million. Municipal spending 3 and a half million. Subventions and transfers 6.8 million. Capital investments 60 million and 800 thousand. This budget is defined in the vision of the capital transformation. These projects are divided into each category and are also based on budgetary hearings. The capital investment budget is based on large capital projects for each category. In addition to large investments, there are operational expenditures which are directly involved in the lives of citizens. I request approval of this budget as a whole”, she said.
On behalf of the LDK, Life Rafuna has declared that her party will support the budget, as it according to it addresses the needs of citizens and constitutes not only an operational financial document, but a development instrument for improving daily life and strengthening the capital's capacities.
On behalf of LDK we support the budget because it addresses the needs of citizens. The budget is not only an operational figure budget, but it is a development instrument aimed at improving citizens' daily life and strengthening the capacities of the capital”,
Meanwhile, the PDK's Leutrim Retkocer has stressed that the budget comes under difficult circumstances because of the challenges of 2025 and that the party's ambistics group is committed to contributing to unlocking any situation that could jeopardise the normal functioning of the municipality.
This budget comes under difficult circumstances as a result of 2025 challenges. The Kosovo Democratic Party's aembilist group is committed to contributing to unblocking any situation that could jeopardise the budget's approval and normal functioning of the capital. At the same time, we have consistently demanded more transparency, the involvement of citizens, public hearings and clear presentation of projects, because these are the foundation of public trust and good planning. The Kosovo Democratic Party's ambassadors will act with caution, responsibility and willingness to overcome differences, always in the interest of the capital and its citizens. What the city needs today is stability, wise decision making and institutional responsibility to advance Pristina. Time is for Pristina, beyond differences. Pristina is our”, he said.
On the other hand, Gezim Svecla from the Vetevendosje Movement has indicated that his political subject will not vote on the budget, praising that Pristina is mired and that the budget increase is being presented wrongly as municipal governing success.
He criticized The PDK, which according to him is supporting this budget, said this budget serves the PDK more than the LDK itself.
In a word, Pristina is getting stuck. And not just us, but that's what the numbers are saying today. Therefore, any attempt to present this budget increase as municipal governing success is public fraud. Another very serious problem is the fact that today we are required to vote on this draft budget without any financial report for the preceding year. We're being asked to vote on 150m euros without accounting. The situation is even worse than the fact that we have not yet discussed our municipality's auditing of financial mirrors. The national abuse audience's findings are in unprecedented figures. Also, President Rama unfortunately has never reported before this Parliament, despite the legal obligation to have at least two annual reports. But as you all know, as we know, Mayor Rama and the legal norms of our country are often two different worlds. As for budget content, it is alarming that three key projects are legally challenged projects and subject to treatment by law organs. We are talking about the “George Bush” Square, the Arberie League with the Centre and Tunnel on the “Agim Ramadani” road, he said.
This budget was said to be supported by the Pristina League and Initiative party as well. /EO/
